What happened this month at the European Space Agency? (August 2026)

August was a busy month for ESA, and the agency's 31 August 2026 video roundup compiles its highlights, including a live total solar eclipse broadcast from Spain, historic spacewalks by Sophie Adenot, the launch of MTG-I2 aboard an Ariane 6 rocket, a dramatic flight over Mars, and a surprising discovery near the Milky Way's central black hole.

The roundup describes these events as a mix of 'spectacular views, historic milestones and exciting new discoveries.' The roughly three-minute video includes captions and third-party content, which ESA notes cannot be reused without explicit authorization.
