After two successful spacewalks on 18 August (EVA-97) and 25 August (EVA-98), ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot will venture into space for a third time on Tuesday 1 September during EVA-99. ESA will livestream coverage on ESA WebTV and ESA’s YouTube channel starting at 12:00 BST/13:00 CEST.

Sophie and NASA astronaut Jessica Meir will exit the International Space Station from the Quest airlock at approximately 13:30 BST/14:30 CEST. Their tasks include replacing a spacecraft navigational aid, preparing a cosmic particle detector for future upgrades, and installing jumper cables to boost data-relay systems. They are expected to spend about six and a half hours outside the orbital complex.

Sophie previously exited the Station twice in August with NASA astronaut Anil Menon for EVA-97 and EVA-98, completing the replacement of a failed SGANT antenna. During EVA-99, NASA astronauts Jack Hathaway and Anil Menon will help Sophie and Jessica into their suits. Sophie will be Extravehicular Crew Member 1 (EV1) wearing red stripes on her spacesuit, while Jessica (EV1) will wear a spacesuit without stripes.

This spacewalk marks Sophie’s 3rd spacewalk, the 5th by a French astronaut, the 14th by a French astronaut overall, the 33rd by a European astronaut, and the 7th during the εpsilon mission.
