Beyond the airlock - Sophie Adenot's three spacewalks
ESA astronaut Sophie Adenot has completed three extravehicular activities (EVAs) during her first mission, less than 15 days after her first steps into space. Across the three spacewalks she spent 19 hours and 42 minutes outside the International Space Station, with a video running 00:08:40 documenting the work.
During the EVAs, Adenot and her crewmates replaced critical Station hardware, installed a new communications antenna, carried out maintenance, and prepared experiments for future work. They did so while adapting to the challenges of working in the extreme environment of space.
Adenot progressed from her very first spacewalk to leading her third as EV1, demonstrating technical skill, perseverance, adaptability, and trust in the teams supporting her.
