Cursor is now a part of SpaceX
Cursor has been officially acquired by SpaceX, completing an acquisition process that started in April when Cursor announced a partnership with SpaceXAI to accelerate its model training efforts. Since Cursor was founded, better models have steadily expanded what users can build, progressing from completing a few lines of code to creating AI teammates capable of handling real work.
The acquisition provides Cursor with access to what it describes as the largest fleet of GPUs in the world, offering the compute needed to build stronger models that are also cheaper to run. That means customers can get more capable models at lower cost. Grok 4.6, released Wednesday, gives an early look at what the combined teams can now build together.
SpaceX is building computing capacity aimed at scaling intelligence far beyond what exists today, and Cursor will be one place where that intelligence becomes useful. The Cursor team says the acquisition opens a much larger horizon while preserving the familiar mission: helping people with ambitious ideas spend less time writing code and more time solving harder problems.
