MTG-I2 ready for launch

The MTG-I2 satellite has been declared ready for launch aboard an Ariane 6 from Europe's Spaceport in French Guiana, with liftoff scheduled for 27 August 2026 at 22:10 CEST (17:10 local time). It is part of the Meteosat Third Generation-Imager constellation for Eumetsat, joining two satellites already in orbit.

The satellite will produce weather-forecasting images of Europe in unprecedented detail, delivering new data products and capabilities for European weather services, particularly for short-term forecasting of severe weather events.
